<br />
Hey Guys!!<br />
<br />
Long time no post... sorry it's been so long! Unfortunately this is probably going to be my last post for a while. As you know I got married and Courtney had a baby. And while I don't have as much of an excuse for not posting as Courtney, life is just too busy. I have a new job and I'm going to grad school part time and my love of polish and blogging has just been the thing that had to give. <br />
<br />
Since I'm not painting my nails nearly as much any more, I decided it was time for a major purge. Hope these polishes can get some love at better homes. I also have a few makeup items too.<br />
<br />
Happy Shopping!<br />

So my love/hate relationship with the Julep Maven program continues. I am still getting these boxes. Some months are total loves, other months make me think why and I doing this? For 20 bucks a month I ended up with a lot of dupes or polishes I don't like. The extra products are either fantastic or terrible. But then I get a box I love and I second guess canceling.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
January was a box I wasn't that thrilled about. It contained Heather, Blake, and a Pomegranate Body Scrub. I also got a bonus polish called Demi. While I was excited for a bonus polish, the options to pick from were all reds which made me sad. I barely ever wear reds so this was not for me. The other polishes were wins though!</div>

First up is Blake, a really luscious pretty yellow creme. It went on super easy in two coats and screams spring. It's pastel and very feminine. I don't think I will reach for this often, but I'm glad I have it in my collection.<br />

Next up is Heather, a metallic grey. I expected this to be brush-stroke city but it was surprisingly easy to apply and had minimal brush strokes. You can see them a little in the third picture. The color is unique for me though, I don't have anything else like it. This is two coats.<br />

Hey guys! I'm back!!! Kind of... life is still super duper crazy, for both me and Courtney. Work is insane for both of us, I just finished another semester of grad school, I'm 4 months out from my wedding and Courtney is in baby prep mode. The good news is - I'm not taking a class this summer! The aren't offering one I want to take that I haven't already taken. It does unfortunately push out graduation, but it'll be ok. More good news - my fiance got me a lens for our camera for close up nail pics!!! So now I'm dying to try it out. That being said, I have about 5 posts in the draft queue of blogger. I put the pictures in and then never get around to writing the text. So before I start posting my new awesome camera photos I need to post these old ones. It will also give me a little time to get my cuticles back in shape, I've been seriously neglecting them recently.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So on of my long awaited polishes to show you is Layla Holographic Effects in Jade Green. As someone who is just getting into linear holos, these Layla's are full of win. I splurged and bought the whole set :P. I've only tried a few so far. I use Aqua Base underneath them and then use my OPI DS Top Coat over them. They aren't the most long wearing nail polishes, but they are so beautiful. I usually only get 2 days of wear before they chip. I think my nails hate the Aqua Bases. Oh well...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Jade Green is a silver that wants to be green. As you can tell from my pics, it is barely green. Just a hint can be seen, and mostly when the holo isn't out in full force. The tricky part is that the holo is almost always out in full force. I took pictures in pretty much ever light I could find to try to show you the green. Can you see it?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

So I've got a lot more Layla's to show you - what do you want to see first once I break out the new lens? You can get this and the others at places like <a href="http://aveyou.com/">Aveyou.com</a> and <a href="http://ulta.com/">Ulta.com</a> for $15.50 a bottle.Jessiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05637338061516372026noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290924660769853533.post-36321372529284265632012-04-03T12:35:00.002-04:002012-04-03T12:35:47.736-04:00Lynnderella Mercurial<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Long time no post guys! I am so sorry to have been away, especially when <a href="http://polishedcasual.blogspot.com/2012/03/catch-up-spam-anyone.html">Ms. Courtney is so busy</a> as well. Between work, grad school, and planning a wedding, my time for blogging has been reduced. I do have a few posts lined up, and I most recently did some serious hauling with Deborah Lippmann, Lynnderella, and Layla products. For that reason I thought I would bring you 2 out of the 3 today, with a Layla to follow later this week.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have already showed you <a href="http://polishedcasual.blogspot.com/2011/08/hurricane-irene-mani-deborah-lippmann.html">Deborah Lippmann's Stormy Weather</a>, but I thought it would make a great base for Lynnderella's Mercurial. I took what I like to call a picture story of this amazing glitter, because words just can't do it justice. Well neither can the pictures aparently. There is so much to this polish you can't see in the picture. Besides the silver, grey, black and purple glitter of various sizes suspended in a clear base, you have this gorgeous teal shimmer. It was really hard to capture on camera with my current lens inside, but man, it just sparkles. And check out the HUGE hexagon on my middle finger :). I love this.</div>

This is just so cool. :) If you are into this edgier glitter look, I highly recommend trying to get your hands on Mercurial. It's pretty difficult to get at this point, but you'll want to head over to <a href="http://shop.llarowe.com/">Llarowe's website</a> to request to be put on the wish list when it reopens. Stormy Weather can still be purchased from <a href="http://lippmanncollection.stores.yahoo.net/allproducts.html">Deborah Lippmann's website</a>, or my ever favorite - <a href="http://zappos.com/">Zappos.com</a>.<br />

That way I don't have a HUGE backlog of stuff to <strike>overwhelm me</strike> post. Sound good? Awesome! Let's get started!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi0jp1m8hx0LXsUeVvT17NyQK4WIDkfRXUSmBceoLelAXw4X7dPlhNtvLdg9tyRSYwNSrxqn8nwF3zrIOmG2puD5lUr_56zp_vz3W3sWfZ-FziBl09n65MwYQ2hdGJtkZjX3MmhtoPDT4/s1600/IMG_1609.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi0jp1m8hx0LXsUeVvT17NyQK4WIDkfRXUSmBceoLelAXw4X7dPlhNtvLdg9tyRSYwNSrxqn8nwF3zrIOmG2puD5lUr_56zp_vz3W3sWfZ-FziBl09n65MwYQ2hdGJtkZjX3MmhtoPDT4/s320/IMG_1609.JPG" width="273" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><b>Nails Inc. Whitehall</b> - Gifted to me by my coworker, who totally gets my nail polish "thing," I was SO excited to try this. It came out pretty cool, but admittedly not as good s this photo would lead you to believe. My nails are just too curvy for the flat magnet, so I had a hard time getting the pattern to wrap all the way around. I didn't think fighting with it to make it work would be worth my while, so I've re-homed this one.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1VzuFp6TAnM/T1z0j0y1MgI/AAAAAAAAA04/WXaU6XnXb9o/s1600/IMG_1616.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="217" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1VzuFp6TAnM/T1z0j0y1MgI/AAAAAAAAA04/WXaU6XnXb9o/s320/IMG_1616.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><b>Color Club Revvvolution</b> - Not a new polish, but definitely one of my absolute favorites. The holo isn't super strong, but it's definitely there. Even when it's not, this polish has one of the coolest textures I've ever seen. If you could color your nails with a graphite pencil, it's exactly what it would look like. The holo version of Revvvolution seems long gone now, but I still think this one's worth picking up anyway. Plus, it's only like $3!</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BWE_Ynu0wHU/T1z0mxq4hoI/AAAAAAAAA1I/sBJBNfmlOA0/s1600/IMG_1629.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="254" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BWE_Ynu0wHU/T1z0mxq4hoI/AAAAAAAAA1I/sBJBNfmlOA0/s320/IMG_1629.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><b>Jessica Disco Diva</b> - Shame on me for not giving this polish its own post. It deserves it. Hell, it deserves its own blog! This isn't my first linear holo to own, but it's the first one I've actually tried (GOSH Holographic is still sitting in my Helmer untried. I know.). I owe Jessie big time for this one, because this polish is awesomeness in a bottle. The holo effect is so strong, it shows up under pretty much every lighting except overcast and darkness. It should be illegal to drive while wearing this polish. It's that amazing.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2CRsv8F5CtU/T1z0sM-85gI/AAAAAAAAA1o/QiEWBtfP2G8/s1600/IMG_1637.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2CRsv8F5CtU/T1z0sM-85gI/AAAAAAAAA1o/QiEWBtfP2G8/s320/IMG_1637.jpg" width="278" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><b>OPI I Don't Give a Rotterdam</b> - A pretty greyed out blue with golden flecks. It's pretty, but it actually kind of bored me. Maybe because I wore this right after Disco Diva. It really is lovely, I just wasn't blown away.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XH3mm8jdvrI/T1z0tZfV-9I/AAAAAAAAA1w/4m4ghaskpfg/s1600/IMG_1638.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="227" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XH3mm8jdvrI/T1z0tZfV-9I/AAAAAAAAA1w/4m4ghaskpfg/s320/IMG_1638.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bBJgjL2_ZQ0/T1z0uhMavPI/AAAAAAAAA14/4KKK4J_D0tI/s1600/IMG_1640.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bBJgjL2_ZQ0/T1z0uhMavPI/AAAAAAAAA14/4KKK4J_D0tI/s320/IMG_1640.JPG" width="280" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><b>A-England Princess Sabra</b> - I was itching to try this one ever since I saw Jessie's swatches, and I loved it just as much as I'd hoped to. It actually leans a little green, so it's not completely unwearable if you typically shy away from golds. The holo effect is subtle, but definitely there, especially in the sunlight. It had a great formula too, but I've almost come to expect that from A-England. Perfection.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OKIkPqNLL0Q/T1z0v-rD6eI/AAAAAAAAA2A/WPpkWMLntq8/s1600/IMG_1641.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OKIkPqNLL0Q/T1z0v-rD6eI/AAAAAAAAA2A/WPpkWMLntq8/s320/IMG_1641.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-F8jEzth9l3c/T1z0wzK4rHI/AAAAAAAAA2I/V5yRUDinTho/s1600/IMG_1643.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-F8jEzth9l3c/T1z0wzK4rHI/AAAAAAAAA2I/V5yRUDinTho/s320/IMG_1643.jpg" width="281" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><b>Rescue Beauty Lounge Jane</b> - Another feeble attempt at my epic journey to find my perfect nude. This ain't it. I had so many issues with this one. The formula was sooooo thin that I needed four (!) coats for full coverage, and then it didn't really self-level at all. It almost had that same chalky feel that the some of the <a href="http://polishedcasual.blogspot.com/2011/05/opi-pirates-of-caribbean-plus-silver.html">OPI Pirates Collection</a> had. Really weird for an RBL. Then it just leaned REALLY grey on me. More so in real life than in these photos. I mean I love me a good grey, but I was just hoping this one was going to be more <i>nude</i>. Then to top it all off, none of that gorgeous shimmer in the bottle showed up on the nail. NONE. Even in full, direct sunlight, I was grasping at straws to see any shimmer. <i>Le sigh</i>. The only good thing I can say about this polish is that it wore like IRON. While most of my polish nowadays wants to jump off my nails in less than a day, I got 5-6 days of perfect wear out of this one!</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qWj3-RFWzIs/T1z051eaROI/AAAAAAAAA2Q/HgGKJ94NZhY/s1600/ButterLondonHRH-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qWj3-RFWzIs/T1z051eaROI/AAAAAAAAA2Q/HgGKJ94NZhY/s320/ButterLondonHRH-1.jpg" width="279" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QFf0vO2-cKA/T1z06rC3lzI/AAAAAAAAA2Y/RHKLgJ4mhac/s1600/ButterLondonHRH-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="270" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QFf0vO2-cKA/T1z06rC3lzI/AAAAAAAAA2Y/RHKLgJ4mhac/s320/ButterLondonHRH-2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<b>Butter London HRH</b> - A lovely red-toned purple shimmer. It's vibrant, but deep at the same time. I really liked this one, but I was surprised when it took three coats for full coverage. For some reason I was really thinking this would be a standard Butter London two-coater. It's nothing to write home about, but if you're missing a good purple shimmer for your collection, this may be a good one to check out.<br />
<br />
Aaaaand, that's it! Phew! Hopefully NOW I can get back on track! Hopefully. Besides battling after-work laziness, I started this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://content.scholastic.com/yawyr/5f8d1bff0e97d6d58596e5eed58da8b57f2d0687.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://content.scholastic.com/yawyr/5f8d1bff0e97d6d58596e5eed58da8b57f2d0687.jpg" width="212" /></a></div><br />
If you haven't read it, I whole-heartedly recommend it! I just finished the first book, so now I'm totally sucked in to the series. I can't just casually read while I paint my nails or whatever. I have to devour the whole thing. But it's a devour-able kind of book.<br />
<br />
But then, I suppose it's finally time to come clean with the BIGGEST reason I've been shying away from blogging:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wXxGgf-N9fI/T1z6SoJVsyI/AAAAAAAAA2k/klpcogHytrQ/s1600/13weeks-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="230" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wXxGgf-N9fI/T1z6SoJVsyI/AAAAAAAAA2k/klpcogHytrQ/s320/13weeks-2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Yup. The hubby and I are expecting our first child in September! It's been such a ride for the past few months since we found out! I battled extreme fatigue (but thankfully no sickness) for the first two months, and it's definitely getting much better but it's still very difficult to hunch over for an hour a few times a week to get my nails painted. Plus, I've had some pretty bad headaches that just get worse when adding polish to the mix. I also switched my base coat and top coat combination since both of my old products were NOT Big 3 Free, and since then I haven't had any kind of good wear on my polish (except for with RBL Jane). </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">When my polish chips, it leaves my weak nails extremely vulnerable to breaks, so at this very moment I'm sporting 6 breaks in all of my nails - an all-time high for me. Pregnancy is supposed to make your hair and nails amazing, but I have yet to see those benefits. My nails are in terrible shape, but I just can't bring myself to nubbinize them just yet. But I also just don't have the heart to show you guys photos of my nails looking like crap. It's a catch-22 for me.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">SO! Now you know it all, and I hope you can find it in your hearts somewhere to forgive me for the general lack of posting. I appreciate all of your love and support while I figure out how to make all of this work through pregnancy and baby. I hope to be able to share with you whether we're having a boy or a girl in just a few weeks! :-)</div>Courtneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05318699539875115927noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290924660769853533.post-85699819268651790452012-02-28T19:12:00.000-05:002012-02-28T19:12:34.470-05:00Joe Fresh Teal<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Good gracious guys, I've been such a doofus when it comes to blog posts lately. I feel like work is sucking the life out of me lately, so I just come home, eat dinner, and then the hubby and I veg out on the couch trying to get caught up on all the shows we DVRed throughout the week. I'm usually not a huge fan of "apology posts," but please - forgive me. I promise I'm gonna get back into the swing of this. I've got a lot of catching up to do!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">First up, yet another polish I owe Jessie big time for snagging for me - Joe Fresh Teal. Not the most creative of names, Joe Fresh, but alright. "Teal" it is. Teal is a medium-toned, well...teal, with subtle silver shimmer. I'd say it leans more heavily on the blue side than green, but it does look greener in some lighting. The formula was pretty good on this one, but I did find it a little hard to spread around. I think next time I'll thin it out a bit and see if that helps. The bigger issue was the brush. The bottle is short and stumpy, and so is the brush. And it's attached to the ginormous round lid, which made it a little hard to grip properly. All very small complaints, though. I made it work with two coats.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xcEiMXuGqyc/T01n7JCpymI/AAAAAAAAA0U/PWxrxLIH-Ts/s1600/IMG_1603.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="230" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xcEiMXuGqyc/T01n7JCpymI/AAAAAAAAA0U/PWxrxLIH-Ts/s320/IMG_1603.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">(click to enlarge)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ifxpKH-_o-I/T01n8jn40FI/AAAAAAAAA0c/cRdspQpzOeM/s1600/IMG_1605.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="254" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ifxpKH-_o-I/T01n8jn40FI/AAAAAAAAA0c/cRdspQpzOeM/s320/IMG_1605.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">(click to enlarge)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p-J_aA-Q0tY/T01n-ChRWjI/AAAAAAAAA0k/xAzcBV5xkt0/s1600/IMG_1606.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p-J_aA-Q0tY/T01n-ChRWjI/AAAAAAAAA0k/xAzcBV5xkt0/s320/IMG_1606.JPG" width="294" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Nice, right? I really loved this color, and got several compliments on it. But the best part is that you're looking at a $4 (almost) dupe of Rescue Beauty Lounge 360. 360 is one of Jessie's favorites, and she's been raving about it ever since I first met her, but between the $18 price tag followed by the out-of-stock status, I just never got a chance to try it for myself. Nail board whisperings of a cheap dupe led to (of course) needing it for myself. Joe Fresh isn't the easiest to snag here in the States, so Jessie managed to pick this up for me during her Christmas trip to New York. wo0t! You can check out comparison swatches of Teal and 360 <a href="http://cilucia.blogspot.com/2011/12/joe-fresh-swatches-incl-rbl-360-dupe.html">here</a> from the lovely cilucia. Pretty darn close, huh?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Soooo, back to that whole availability thing. If you're a Canadian girl, you can probably track down Joe Fresh polishes with ease. Stateside, not so much. Right now there's only five stores and they're ALL in the New York City area. Hopefully they'll start to branch out with more stores across the U.S., but for now it'll take a little work to nail down their polishes. On the other hand, RBL's got 360 <a href="http://rescuebeauty.com/">back in stock</a> for $18, if you love the look! It really is lovely! :-)</div>Courtneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05318699539875115927noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290924660769853533.post-35132778916137391372012-02-25T12:00:00.000-05:002012-02-25T12:00:03.433-05:00Julep Maven December Box<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So obviously I am still getting caught up on my Julep Maven boxes. This one was really fun, but actually contained no polish to swatch for you guys. It came with some peacock feather print nail polish stickers which I haven't tried yet, an amazing smelling pomegranate body creme and some Julep Fast Dry Topcoat. The also threw in some nail polish glitter in a yellow iridescent in a bar shape. I was pretty happy with this box overall! The package was super cute too!</div>

I'll have to post a review of the nail polish strips once I get around to using them. I have tried to top coat and like it a lot. I use it when I use Julep polishes. The Body Butter is pretty fantastic. It smells amazing unlike their hand lotion/scrub/brightener combo. I'm not into the nail glitter, but it's a cute idea.</div>

<div>
Anyway, sorry this is a boring post! I'm still subscribed to the Maven program and like it. These boxes are $20 a month. I keep thinking about dropping it, but then they send me a polish that looks interesting. Oh well!</div>Jessiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05637338061516372026noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290924660769853533.post-76277731330826098452012-02-23T22:24:00.000-05:002012-02-23T22:24:11.839-05:00Max Factor Fantasy Fire<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Oh man! So those of you either really into nail polish or just getting into it have probably heard of Clarins 230. It's a nail polish so rare, it's been dubbed Unicorn Pee. It has this amazing color shifting pigment suspended in a purple jelly base. You can buy it for a ridiculous amount of money on Ebay. Now I've been know to spend stupid amounts of money on throw pillows (ask <a href="http://hunny0202.blogspot.com/">Missy</a>), but $60+ on a bottle of nail polish. No way.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Enter Max Factor. I read online that they released a very close dupe for Clarins 230. It came in mini bottles, and was only available in England, and only $6 a bottle. So next step was how do I get this!!!!!!!!!! Well through some lovely ladies named Jenny and Jill, I was able to get this amazing polish. I did some quick research and to figure out the perfect undies for it. Color changing pigments look fabulous over dark colors and I knew I wanted something other than black. I decided on OPI's Sapphire in the Snow. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I didn't even get one nail painted before I almost fainted from the amazingness that this polish is. So amazing I would now actually consider paying $40 for Clarins 230. :) At least I haven't lost all my sanity right? Check it out and you'll see what I mean. There's red, gold, green and teal. SWOON!</div>

Unfortunately this polish isn't available online for international shipping, so to get it you'll need a friend in the UK. It's so worth trying to get though. Buzz is that this polish may be part of their permanent collection, so you may have some time to acquire it!!! </div>Jessiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05637338061516372026noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290924660769853533.post-75131263558060518442012-02-20T18:56:00.000-05:002012-02-20T18:56:30.305-05:00Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Time to finally catch up on some of those old manicures I skipped over in my excitement over <a href="http://polishedcasual.blogspot.com/2012/02/another-look-england-saint-george.html">Saint George</a> and <a href="http://polishedcasual.blogspot.com/2012/02/lynnderella-very-pretty-vampire.html">Very Pretty Vampire</a>! RBL Scrangie is one of those polishes that I HAD to have. I couldn't even stand to wait for it to come back after making the cut in the Bring it Back vote, so I swapped to bring it home ASAP. And then it sat in my Helmer for about six months. I know. I'm getting better, I promise.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Scrangie, designed by and named after <a href="http://scrangie.com/">the One and Only</a>, is an amazingly lovely sheer purple with aqua shimmer. The purple base leans heavily on the red side, but the blue shimmer is dense enough that it gives it an overall grape tone. Cool-toned girls can definitely pull this off. It's a little more sheer than you typically find from RBL, but it has to be in order for all that shimmer to show off properly. It's buildable to opacity, and this is three coats I'm showing you here. Flawless application, of course.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Hrmmm...I don't know what happened here, but I think I may have overhyped this polish to myself. As lovely as it is, I feel like it just falls flat on me. It shimmers beautifully, but maybe I was expecting it to be...sparklier? I don't know. I wanted to love it. It looks BEAUTIFUL on other girls, but something about it just wasn't right for me. I had a huge sad. Re-homed this one. :-(</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The good news is that while Scrangie was sold out for quite a while on <a href="http://rescuebeauty.com/">RBL's website</a>, it's now back, and you bring it home for the standard $18. If you want a similar look without the huge splurge, you can try Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Grape Going. Definitely not dupes, but for a fraction of the cost you can definitely see if the overall look will work for you.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Well, I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I know I'm already looking forward to the next one, lol! :-)</div>Courtneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05318699539875115927noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290924660769853533.post-59850078554318056362012-02-14T21:36:00.001-05:002012-02-14T21:36:31.523-05:00Valentine's Day Mani!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So for Valentine's Day this year I decided to go ULTRA girly. I broke out the only 2 Nicole by OPI polishes I own, Kim-pletely in Love an<span style="background-color: white;">d<span style="font-family: inherit;"> <span style="line-height: 18px;">Step to the Beat of My ♥. Whats funny is that I'm definitely not a Kardashian fan and I'm pretty indifferent on the Biebs. Don't know what I'm talking about? So Kim-pletely in Love came out in the Kardashian Kollection put out by Nicole by OPI in 2011. Step to the Beat of My </span></span></span><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px;">♥ is part of the Justin Bieber for Nicole by OPI "One Less Lonely Girl" Collection. Pop-cultured out enough yet?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="line-height: 18px;">Kim-pletely in Love was a polish I was pretty excited to try. I read about it on other beauty blogs and thought it might make a nice wedding mani for me. While I want to have really fun toes, I'm worried I'll grow out of nail polish in 30 years and look back on my pictures and wonder why in the world I wore Mad as a Hatter nail polish to my wedding. :) So I thought this lovely pink shade would be just what I was looking for. Kim-pletely in love is a jelly-ish pale pink with blue shimmer. It's lovely, but after 3 coats I was tired and couldn't stand to add the 4th coat that was really needed. You couldn't really see the nail line, but you could definitely see what was left of my peelies. Oh well! It is a beautiful pink, but I don't think it's special enough for my wedding day...</span></span></div>

So then I added <span style="background-color: white; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="line-height: 18px;">Step to the Beat of My </span></span></span><span style="background-color: white; text-align: left;"><span style="line-height: 18px;">♥ which is a clear base with large pink and purple holographic hearts and small iridescent glitter. This polish is a PITA (pain-in-the-youknowwhat), It is SOOOO hard to get the heart shaped glitter out. I was literally swirling the glitter around, then swirling the brush into the glitter, then rubbing the hearts on the inside of the neck, then getting all the clear polish off the brush on the other side of the neck, then lightly dipping the brush back in the clear polish, then picking up the heart glitter. And then getting the heart glitter off the brush and onto the nail? FORGET ABOUT IT. This is WAY to hard. But it looks cute!</span></span></div>

Last year I chose <a href="http://polishedcasual.blogspot.com/2011/02/my-valentines-day-manicure-deborah.html">Deborah Lippmann Ruby Red Slippers</a>, a polish I ADORED and really need to wear again! The hubby really liked that one, and I wasn't sure how I was going to top it for this year, until...LYNNDERELLA!<br />
<br />
I went with Very Pretty Vampire from her Early Halloween collection. Now you'll have to forgive me for two things. One, that the dominant hand has returned due to the catastrophe mentioned <a href="http://polishedcasual.blogspot.com/2012/02/another-look-england-saint-george.html">here</a>. For some reason dominant hand, although being "dominant," is not very photogenic. I don't know why. It just won't pose right, so these photos look a little wonky. Two, I am HORRIBLE at describing Lynnderella polishes. They're so unique and complex that I can hardly grasp the words. I'll just let the photos do the talking this time. Definitely click to enlarge them to see all the complexity and beauty in that glitter!<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><i>Le sigh.</i> She's beautiful, isn't she? My photos don't even do it justice. This is two coats over Zoya Valerie - literally the PERFECT polish to pair this with. Thanks to the lovely cilucia for the <a href="http://cilucia.blogspot.com/2011/11/lynnderella-very-pretty-vampire.html">inspiration</a> (and amazing photos)! The application was a breeze, even for a chunky glitter, and the outcome is just beautiful. The hubby was definitely impressed!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Speaking of Valerie, I wanted to show you that one on its own. I actually wore this as a fully manicure just because I had heard such great things about it. And for good reason - it's gorgeous! This one would make a perfect Valentine's Day manicure just on its own!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3gGQNqUbQVW2Xz3MyQ2s-dyuxrz-MYlwIzdJIunq3DvUyW2SLsoZTXrJRfJIrl8rd2dndFtPmv0QEwsEZ5f7qOpyDiuGhctA69WOinyALJ243NUAciE5r-M2FvH6VwecFSK2R9Bxe3SM/s1600/IMG_1620.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="222" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3gGQNqUbQVW2Xz3MyQ2s-dyuxrz-MYlwIzdJIunq3DvUyW2SLsoZTXrJRfJIrl8rd2dndFtPmv0QEwsEZ5f7qOpyDiuGhctA69WOinyALJ243NUAciE5r-M2FvH6VwecFSK2R9Bxe3SM/s320/IMG_1620.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div>Application was great, and this is just two coats. If you're looking for the perfect base for Very Pretty Vampire, this is IT! You could also try Zoya Jem (since it's a VERY near dupe) if you don't own Valerie, or if Zoyas just aren't your thing, Orly Rococo-a-Go-Go is another option.<br />
<br />
Va-va-voom, indeed!! ;-)<br />
<br />
I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day, whether you're celebrating with that special someone or rocking it on your own! Sending love and warm wishes your way! :-)Courtneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05318699539875115927noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290924660769853533.post-1176859594925975652012-02-10T19:09:00.000-05:002012-02-10T19:09:01.269-05:00Another Look: A-England Saint George<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I typically don't like to go out of order when I show you my manicures. It may be about two weeks behind, but you typically see them in exactly the order that I wore them. I also know that Jessie just showed you guys a ton of A-Englands, but I really couldn't help myself. I could hardly wait to put on Saint George, and it was so awesome I just couldn't wait two weeks to share it with you!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">You can see Jessie's original post with Saint George <a href="http://polishedcasual.blogspot.com/2012/01/england-week-legends-part-2.html">here</a>. Her photos were so drool-worthy I was DYING to get my hands on it! Or it on my hands...hehe. Saint George is a gorgeous (GORGEOUS) teal with a subtle scattered holographic finish. The depth of this color is unbelievable. You have to see it in person. Sometimes it leans more green and sometimes more blue, but either way it's beautiful. The holo effect isn't super strong, but it's noticeable even indoors. It just gives it this amazing depth. The formula is also just as amazing. Flawless application, and perfect coverage in two thin coats. Check it out!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5_0s5GdH5nc/TzWt7dX6kxI/AAAAAAAAAyw/gvVSpgiLtmM/s1600/IMG_1613.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="228" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5_0s5GdH5nc/TzWt7dX6kxI/AAAAAAAAAyw/gvVSpgiLtmM/s320/IMG_1613.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> (click to enlarge)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPbvCxtQvkRoevVHnFYUMBtIxp0bRsdch4Jmu0624pyOIA-ZLCwrzGBXiE5J8do9U102qbKjoI5h9oH9uJ0Wb1C2nuQbsLlX5VlPaQByK7Q8WWZhFbk4rnI-6DTw4AgAMPd1QwQHlQwyI/s1600/IMG_1614.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="280" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPbvCxtQvkRoevVHnFYUMBtIxp0bRsdch4Jmu0624pyOIA-ZLCwrzGBXiE5J8do9U102qbKjoI5h9oH9uJ0Wb1C2nuQbsLlX5VlPaQByK7Q8WWZhFbk4rnI-6DTw4AgAMPd1QwQHlQwyI/s320/IMG_1614.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> (click to enlarge)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FKixPQd8tgY/TzWt_L6XqtI/AAAAAAAAAzA/NOfpce4qW8M/s1600/IMG_1615.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FKixPQd8tgY/TzWt_L6XqtI/AAAAAAAAAzA/NOfpce4qW8M/s320/IMG_1615.JPG" width="287" /></a></div><br />
I. DIE. It really is that awesome, I promise you. I beg you guys to forgive me. I had full intentions of also getting sunlight photos for you, but fate had another plan. I put on Saint George during the Super Bowl, so it was dark out. It was going to be sunny the next day so no problem, right? Yeeeeah, I was closing up the reception window at work when my hand slipped off, taking a huge chunk out of two of my nails. And the polish. My soul was crushed. I hardly got to fully enjoy Saint George before it got ruined, but it was still so gorgeous I refused to take it off. Yeah, I wore it chipped up for about two days. When you guys start seeing the dominant hand popping back into my photos, you'll know why. My apologies in advance.<br />
<br />
Anyway, enough of my rambling. If you don't already own Saint George, GO. RUN. NOW. You NEED it. Your soul NEEEEEEEDS it! This is happiness in a bottle, and you can nab it for $12 from <a href="http://shop.llarowe.com/">shop.llarowe.com</a> as soon as they come back in stock! <br />
<br />
I promise to try not to overload you guys on A-Englands, but they're just too pretty to resist! :-)Courtneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05318699539875115927noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290924660769853533.post-940127330751978262012-02-07T18:25:00.000-05:002012-02-07T18:25:28.728-05:00You Know Your Co-Blogger Loves You When...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This is so epic it deserves its own post. Seriously. So Jessie and I got together over the weekend. The hubby even tagged along for good measure. :-)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

Morgan Le Fay<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well in all fairness, I am showing you Morgan Le Fay over <a href="http://polishedcasual.blogspot.com/2012/02/england-week-galahad.html">Galahad</a>. Morgan Le Fay is a opalescent pearly top coat meant to be worn over other polishes. She gives this silvery white sheen to the polish. If you look closely enough in real life, you can see a small rainbow of colors reflect in the sun. This is a really fun top coat, it would be great for spring. I'm showing 1 coat of Morgan Le Fay over Galahad.</div>

Pretty cool right? I kind of wonder how close it is to Essie Pearl Perfection? I'll have to do a comparison the next time I wear this. Anyway, that brings my A-England Week to a close. How did you like it? Any other theme weeks you would like to see?</div>

GalahadHelloooooooooo gorgeous!!!!! Galahad, I love you, and your mysterious blue dusty ways. You lean a bit turquoise, and only require 1 coat. Your formula is super pigmented and your finish is uber glossy. You are the most amazing creme ever. Let's admire your beauty.<br />

In all seriousness, I was very very very happy with Galahad. It's a dusty blue leaning turquoise that goes on like butter and is so pigmented! These pictures are without top coat! Can you believe it? If you are in need of a good dusty turquoise, stop your search now. You can get Galahad today on <a href="http://www.a-england.co.uk/">A-England's website</a> or wait till he comes back in stock on <a href="http://shop.llarowe.com/">Llarowe</a> for $12.Jessiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05637338061516372026noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290924660769853533.post-54539046802212130812012-02-03T08:08:00.002-05:002012-02-03T08:08:51.838-05:00A-England Week! AvalonRemember when I showed you <a href="http://polishedcasual.blogspot.com/2012/01/another-look-lynnderella-love-potion-no.html">Lynnderella's Love Potion No. 99</a> and didn't tell you what purple I wore it over? Well A-England's Avalon was it. Strangely enough, I'm not crazy about this one. The shimmer in it is pretty special, but this is a very warm-toned purple (even though some of my pictures wouldn't show that). My skin is pretty cool, so this just wasn't as lovely as it should have been. I used 2 coats here. This was actually my first time wearing A-England ever, and I wore it with the base/top coat combo that's been really working for me lately. I start with Barielle Hydrating Ridge Filler with Silk Fiber, then polish, the Barielle Manicure Extender. My nails have been a lot happier lately with less peeling! However this combination would not let Avalon dry. Not matter how long I wanted (we are talking 2 hours). It was dry to the touch, but the slightest nudge would dent this manicure. Hence the glittery top coat!<br />
<br />
So the first set is very color inaccurate. It is NOT this blue.<br />
<br />

I wasn't too thrilled with it, because for me it leaned a little too blue. I thought China Glaze Glittering Garland may have been a better choice, but I never had the opportunity to pick up a bottle to try. <a href="http://stuffiswatched.blogspot.com/">Rach</a> to the rescue!! She just so happened to have Glittering Garland and offered it to me for our stash swap. WIN!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Glittering Garland is super similar to Meet Me Under the Mistletoe. It's a green that falls somewhere between foil and glass-fleck. Probably closer to glass-fleck. This one's less of a pine green and more of an evergreen...green. It's much more yellow, so it's more flattering for warm-toned girls like me. The major difference though is the formula. Glittering Garland is WAY more pigmented, and it only took me two coats (compared to three) to reach full opacity. The application was fantastic, and it went on like a breeze. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2bc4sST8A20/TynYmHBttUI/AAAAAAAAAxk/UZkx5g1XDlU/s1600/IMG_1596.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="230" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2bc4sST8A20/TynYmHBttUI/AAAAAAAAAxk/UZkx5g1XDlU/s320/IMG_1596.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> (click to enlarge)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eN7II-EUfH8/TynYnmAg0cI/AAAAAAAAAxs/R1GetcNpOk0/s1600/IMG_1597.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="258" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eN7II-EUfH8/TynYnmAg0cI/AAAAAAAAAxs/R1GetcNpOk0/s320/IMG_1597.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> (click to enlarge)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8y6AfB8Qmx0/TynYo3P4m5I/AAAAAAAAAx0/G22oJ-XGTVA/s1600/IMG_1598.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8y6AfB8Qmx0/TynYo3P4m5I/AAAAAAAAAx0/G22oJ-XGTVA/s320/IMG_1598.jpg" width="290" /></a></div><br />
YESSSSSSSSSSSS! Much <b>much</b> better! <i>This</i> is exactly what I wanted Meet Me Under the Mistletoe to be! Don't get me wrong, it was lovely, but this one is just much more flattering for my skin tone. And the depth is just amazing. A huge thanks to Rach for having just exactly what I needed! :-)<br />
<br />
I'm such a doofus. I totally meant to take my own comparison shots of these two polishes on the nail before I removed it. I don't know what happened. Too many episodes of Stark Trek: The Next Generation or something. I completely forgot. Forgive me! But here's a side-by-side comparison of the two. Glittering Garland on the left, Meet Me Under the Mistletoe on the right.<br />

I actually wore this to a conference I went to as I was giving a demo and wanted to look "professional." Why can't the world see things they way us nail polish lovers do? Nail polish is just another accessories, another piece of jewelry, and I shouldn't have to wear pink or nude or mauve because someone decided boring is professional.... <br />
<br />
Ok, ok, off my soapbox.<br />
<br />
The things that's amazing about Iseult is that she is not at all boring. The pale baby pink has the most beautiful fine shimmer in it that just make this polish dance. I'm surprised how much I love this baby pink. Its soft and delicate and feminine. Like I said, not boring at all. I wonder how this compares to Nicole by OPI's Kim-pletely in love that i just picked up. I know the shimmer will be different but maybe the base color would be the same? The only thing I don't like about Iseult is that it needs 2, sometimes 3 coats. 1 coat is very streaky! If you are careful, 2 will do.<br />

The Legends Part 3<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm super excited to bring you the last of The Legends Collection: Bridal Veil and Order of the Garter! But don't worry, we aren't even half way through A-England Week :) so there is plenty more to come. I figured it would be a pretty good way to round up my month of blogging everyday.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Bridal Veil is up first, and while it's pretty, super pigmented, and applies wonderfully, it's kind of bleh. And I'm saying that in context of the rest of this collection. The black shade is pretty amazing, I'm not sure what it is, maybe it's more charcoal, but the base is better than straight up black. It does have holographic particles in it, but it really just gives it a pretty shimmer. I wouldn't even call this a scattered holo, even though that is what I believe it's trying to be. I think the best this about this is it's 1 coat. I wonder how butter LONDON's The Black Knight? I might have to try that soon.</div>

The last of the bunch, Order of the Garter, is VERY different than the rest of The Legends, but I think that makes it even more schedule. If you haven't gone over to <a href="http://www.fashionpolish.com/2012/01/england-legend-collection-swatches-and.html">Fashion Polish</a> yet to read the story of the names behind this polish, GO! Her post is fantastic, as always. It will give you some insight on why this one is different and special in the collection. Order of the Garter is an amazing bright blue polish packed full of lighter blue/turquoise glass flecks. SWOON! I was really shocked how much I liked this one. I expected to think it was pretty but not special. THIS IS SPECIAL. I promise you. Hopefully my pictures do it justice!<br />

No really, read my comment on it at the bottom! After my complete obsession with olive green polishes this past fall, I was dyyyyyyying to get my hands on it! Behold Eyeko Military Polish!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Military Polish (Yeeeeahhhh, there's no real <i>name</i> for this one. Argh.) is this deep olive green creme polish that leans heavily on the brown side. The formula's a little on the thick side, but I made it work with three thickish coats. The harder part was the brush and stem. The bottle is super long and skinny, so, naturally, so is the stem. And then there's a kind of short, stumpy brush on the end. The whole setup kind of reminded me of the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear polishes. It's been a while since I've used one of those too, so it was just kind of like getting back on the horse. :-)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6BINMiuNEuk/TyiDv4yUuAI/AAAAAAAAAxI/B9bLtjX4nzg/s1600/IMG_1593.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="205" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6BINMiuNEuk/TyiDv4yUuAI/AAAAAAAAAxI/B9bLtjX4nzg/s320/IMG_1593.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> (click to enlarge)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RVkxKd_oUh8/TyiDxFwgZ9I/AAAAAAAAAxQ/ILOIbRJFthY/s1600/IMG_1594.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RVkxKd_oUh8/TyiDxFwgZ9I/AAAAAAAAAxQ/ILOIbRJFthY/s320/IMG_1594.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> (click to enlarge)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gy3yx1JjMYs/TyiDyZwJI4I/AAAAAAAAAxY/-BKgircBxKQ/s1600/IMG_1595.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gy3yx1JjMYs/TyiDyZwJI4I/AAAAAAAAAxY/-BKgircBxKQ/s320/IMG_1595.JPG" width="289" /></a></div><br />
I don't know if it's my lighting or my application or the length of my nails, but something makes this polish SUPER dark on me. Like, six shades darker than the bottle color. D'oh! Somehow it pulls lighter on Rach, so I think it looks light years better on her. I do wish it were a bit lighter on me. Just a smidge! That being said, I did feel like somewhat of a badass wearing this color. It's definitely a "kicking-ass-and-taking-names" kind of color. And it should be if it's gonna be called Military Polish, right?! ;-)<br />
<br />
The sad news, from what I gather from Rach's post, is that Eyeko discontinued their polish line last year, AND being a European brand, these babies are gonna be super tough to get your hand on. Your best bet will probably be swaps on <a href="http://www.makeupalley.com/board/j.asp?bid=10">MUA</a>. Bob DARNIT, Eyeko!<br />
<br />
Finally, if you haven't seen the last installment of Rach's post on our second stash swap, <a href="http://stuffiswatched.blogspot.com/">Zoya Mimi</a>, go RUN now! Mimi is definitely one of my favorites and Rach (of course) rocks it like...a rockstar. Sorry, I'm really bad with similes. It's also a really great post on some well-known fictional Mimis AND which top coats may be best (and worst) with your Zoyas! :-)Courtneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05318699539875115927noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290924660769853533.post-19033130959967037332012-01-30T22:49:00.002-05:002012-01-30T22:49:45.284-05:00A-England Week! The Legends Part 2<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Alright! Get Ready!!!!! Cause here comes Part 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First up we have Dragon, a beautiful green holo. This one is somewhere between a scattered and linear holo. It pulls the teeniest bit gold, but a lot of that holo reflects blue to balance it out. This was a surprise love for me! I only needed 1 coat! One coat! Can you believe? Just wait until you see the next 1 coater :). My only complain about Dragon is it came with a messy brush that needs to be trimmed. Oh well!</div>

If you aren't immediately nuts over St. George, I may have to take your nail polish lovers card from you :) and kick you out of the club. This color is vampy, sexy, and sophisticated all in one. The formula on it is the best of the bunch. Just perfect. :) Get this one, you won't regret it.<br />
<br />
Both of these are currently sold out on <a href="http://shop.llarowe.com/A-England-The-Legends-Collection_c20.htm">Llarowe's website</a> but you can still get them straight from England with free shipping if you email <a href="http://www.a-england.co.uk/">A-England</a>! The Legends Part 1Yeah, so in a moment of monetary weakness, I hauled A-England. And I mean hauled. I ordered the entire Legends collection plus some more of the Mythicals. So I'll have to take the polish purchasing very easy for quite sometime. At least until the OPI Holland collection comes out :).<br />
<br />
So today I'm going to show you the first 3 Legends: Princess Tears, Princess Sabra, and Ascalon. These are the lightest of the group so I thought they'd make a good post together. <a href="http://www.fashionpolish.com/2012/01/england-legend-collection-swatches-and.html">Fashion Polish</a> has a wonderful post telling the story of The Legends and how they all fit together!<br />
<br />
Princess Tears is up first, and is a really lovely lavender holographic polish. It's pretty much always lavender, but if you catch it in the right light it looks silver because it's so pale. The holo is really pretty and delicate in this one. You can always see it, but it's not super strong. This is actually a perfect holo for work! I am wearing it to work tomorrow!!! Here are a million pictures of Princess Tears (2 coats).<br />

Next up is Princess Sabra, which is a polish I wouldn't have normally gotten. But you can't very well get 6 out of 7 on this collection. I do like it more than I thought, but not sure how often I will reach for this one. Princess Sabra is a gold holo that leans a little on the yellow-green side. I needed 2 coats on this one. She's an interesting one and the holo is really strong. Check her out, what do you think?<br />

Finally we have Ascalon, a steel grey. This one is more of a scattered holo than a linear, but not less gorgeous. This is 2 coats, but if I had been more careful I could have done one. The color on this one is so rich and sophisticated. In the pictures I feel like it pulls a little purple, but it's just to holo particles playing tricks :). A lot of other bloggers think this is a duo or multi chrome. I just didn't see that in real life, but I had limited lighting sources when swatching this one. Once I wear this as a full mani in the future I'll take more pictures.<br />

The A-England Legends collection was literally just released and can be bought from <a href="http://shop.llarowe.com/">Llarowe's website</a> for $12 each. They aren't up on the <a href="http://www.a-england.co.uk/">A-England website</a> yet, but you can email them to order with free shipping to the US. You do pay 9 GBP for each one though. So far I highly recommend this collection and I know it's only going to get better. The formula is great (as long as you don't use it with Barielle's treatment system) and the colors are unique and beautiful! If you haven't jumped on the A-England band wagon yet I suggest you do today :).</div>Jessiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05637338061516372026noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290924660769853533.post-81708234685496909442012-01-28T20:29:00.000-05:002012-01-28T20:29:15.999-05:00OPI Super Bass ShatterDude - I read SUCH good reviews of OPI's Super Bass, their newest shatter that's a gorgeous purple jelly with shimmer in it. It's a pretty pinkish purple though, leaning on fuchsia. Anyway, seeing everyone's pictures, it cracked really really well. Mine didn't! I'm not willing to give up on it yet. I'm thinking that either the thickness of my coat is off or maybe because by base (<a href="http://polishedcasual.blogspot.com/2012/01/opi-metallic-4-life.html">OPI's Metallic 4 Life</a>) wasn't flat and smooth. The color and the shimmer is just awesome though, I really love this shatter. Reminds me a lot of the <a href="http://polishedcasual.blogspot.com/2011/06/opi-turquoise-shatter.html">Turquoise Shatter</a> I loved so much. I also LOVE that it is a jelly. Especially over Metallic 4 Life, you cant still see the glitter underneath and makes for a really interesting texture rich manicure. One thing to note is that Super Bass dries VERY matte and kind of white-ish (at least over my current mani). Once you put on top coat it goes back to shiny goodness.<br />

In my opinion, Super Bass is a must have, even if you are over the whole Shatter movement :). You can get it at Ulta or online e-tailers for $8.50.Jessiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05637338061516372026noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290924660769853533.post-47286771012169778662012-01-27T23:29:00.000-05:002012-01-27T23:29:12.770-05:00OPI Metallic 4 Life<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So the last time I was at my salon the had the Nicki Minaj OPI collection polishes. I new I wanted the two glitters and the shatter, but I was pretty undecided about the cremes. I had Fly in my hands and kept putting it back, picking it up, putting it back. I'm glad I passed now that I have <a href="http://polishedcasual.blogspot.com/2012/01/butter-london-slapper.html">Slapper</a>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For my first polish from the ones I picked, I decided on Metallic 4 Life. This reminds me a lot of Deborah Lippmann's Bad Romance, except with silver glitter instead of fuchsia. Metallic 4 Life is a black jelly base with lots of silver glitter, in a variety of shapes and sizes. It is mostly small glitter, but there are some larger hexagons in there. This went on pretty easy for a jelly glitter, but I did need 3 coats. And I still have bald spots! I didn't care because I plan to top this with the Super Bass Shatter tomorrow. I think this one just needs undies!</div>

This would be a fantastic polish for a night out! It just screams martinis and dancing to me. These pictures again, aren't great. I think I'm going to give up on the SLR for glitters! OPI's Metallic 4 Life can be bought at Ulta or online for $8.50. Do you have to have this one? No, but I like it anyhow. I'd say pick it up if you don't have anything like it.Jessiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05637338061516372026noreply@blogger.com2
